As the Chief Content Officer for the Independent Book Publishers Association, Lee Wind (he/him) helps shape the direction of IBPA’s educational programs, book marketing opportunities, and role in the industry. A book blogger and author himself, Lee is passionate about empowering and amplifying independent voices, and as staff liaison to the IBPA DEI committee is always looking to be an ally to those who have been marginalized by traditional corporate publishing. With IBPA since 2017, Lee is also a volunteer organizer of the LGBTQIA2+ Community group of the American Society of Association Executives. As an author, Lee writes stories to empower kids and teens to be their authentic selves and change the world—the same books that would have changed his life as a young gay, Jewish kid. Two of his nonfiction titles for ages 11 and up, No Way, They Were Gay? and The Gender Binary Is a Big Lie, have been banned multiple times, inspiring him to co-found IBPA's freedom to read program. We Are Stronger Than Censorship offsets every one book challenge with two books bought and then donated to readers across the USA.
