About me
Kaycie Hoffman Blaylock has worked in education for over two decades, primarily in school librarianship from preschool through adult education levels. She is a licensed school administrator and has served as a school principal, along with her current role as the Library and Resource Coordinator for Alexandria City Public Schools in Virginia. As part of that job, she manages the core resource adoptions for high-quality instructional materials for all content areas.
Outside of supporting the professional learning communities in her school division, Kaycie has provided training sessions for AASL and ALA on developing support structures for classified library staffing, integrating science standards into elementary library instruction using the 5-E model, human-centered design for turnaround libraries, project management techniques for efficient school libraries, micro-credentialing in the library setting, creating cultures of change in school libraries, and functional facility design for school libraries. In the fall, she will present a session on self-reflection engagement structures to support SEL instruction in the library.
Kaycie is a graduate of the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University, studying education finance policy and practice. She has a double master's (M.S. in Educational Media & Librarianship and M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction) from Portland State University and her administrator's license from the University of Portland.
